The design and development of equipment for :

The filters developed and sold by Prayon are used to separate solids and liquids.
There are three types of filter :

Prayon tilting pan filters




Two thirds of the world's basic phosphoric acid production units use Prayon tilting pan filters.

This type of filter is recommended for applications which are used to separate solids and liquids and which require large filtration surfaces and very high filtration yields.

The following major developments have been made to this filter:

  • a "fast-drain" filtration cell (pan) and a low-acceleration tilting track which can increase the capacity of the filter and the filtration yield;
  • an automatic system to keep the pans horizontal;
  • a new waterproof cloth-fixing system whereby the cloth can be replaced in a very short time;
  • a compact vacuum box for pre-separation of gas and filtrates, and reduced scaling in the vacuum lines.

The main benefits of this filter are :

  • highly reliable;
  • on-stream factor greater than 95%;
  • excellent ratio between capacity, extraction yield and drying of the cake, due to batch filtration and a high level of authorized maximum vacuum;
  • extremely energy-efficient equipment.

Prayon TDI tilting pan filters




This type of filter is recommended for applications in which liquids and solids are separated and which require:

  • average filtration surfaces (up to 135 m2);
  • very high filtration yields;
  • higher capacity cells beneath the filtering cloth enabling filtration of very thick cakes.

The following key developments have been made to this type of filter :

  • its compactness (ratio of filtering surface to base area);
  • its unique and patented design with fewer mechanical parts;
  • savings on energy consumption and maintenance costs.

Prayon linear belt filters

Prayon agitators are used to :

  • hold solids in suspension;
  • optimize distribution of any reactants introduced into the area to be agitated by horizontal shear;
  • ensure high flow circulation in the tank;
  • agitate the pulps at the surface to reduce the formation of foam and/or cool the pulps.

Agitators are mainly used in the following :

  • acid attack on ores;
  • suspension, formation, and enlargement of crystals in a pulp, and de-saturation of pulp.

This equipment has been designed to use as little energy as possible.
Prayon has been active in this area for over 50 years and has made many modifications to the original design. These modifications include, in particular, the introduction of electron beam welding, which considerably reduces the weld's residual tension, the addition of welded or bolted blades, and the creation of high-capacity blades using forming and bending technology.

Gas scrubbing




PROFILE offers the following equipment for purifying and scrubbing gases :

  • separators to collect droplets from a vacuum evaporator that concentrates acids. This equipment, which comes before the condenser, reduces the contamination of condensation water used upstream from the production unit.
  • scrubbing towers to beneficiate the gas produced by the reactions from the acid attack on the ores.

This equipment is now widely used in phosphoric acid factories to reduce the discharge of fluorine and P2O5 in flue gases.
