HORTICULTURE

Hortipray® is a complete range of 100% soluble fertiliser products, developed to fulfill the requirements of the most demanding producers and consumers. Our products supply vegetables, flowers and plants with optimum nutrient levels. With Hortipray®, both crop yields and quality are optimised.

Crops require a number of mineral elements for growth:

  • three essential elements: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K)
  • two secondary elements: sulphur (S) and magnesium (Mg)
  • numerous trace elements such as copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), boron (Bo) and manganese (Mn)
  • phosphorus and calcium, which are as important for soil structure as for plant nutrition.

If any of these essential elements is lacking, plant growth and yield are threatened. That's why our fertilisers are so vital: they ensure a balanced diet at every stage of plant development.

AGRICULTURE

Our broadcast fertilisers are primarily phosphate (P) and binary nitrogen-phosphorus (NP) (*) fertilisers intended to satisfy the nutritional requirements of field crops (wheat, barley, beetroot, potatoes, rape, corn).

These nutritional requirements are as follows:

·         three essential elements - nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K)

·         two secondary elements - sulphur (S) and magnesium (Mg)

·         numerous trace elements such as copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), boron (Bo) and manganese (Mn)

·         phosphorus and calcium, which are as important for soil structure as for plant nutrition.

We market granular (P and NP), powder (P) and liquid (NP) fertilisers.
The choice between these different possibilities is determined more by factors such as available manpower, storage constraints and speed and simplicity of cultivation than by the agronomic efficiency of the fertilisers, which is broadly comparable.

We offer various types of granular fertiliser:

·         Simple phosphate (P)

·         Binary NP (containing both nitrogen and phosphorus).

We also sell NP (nitrogen + phosphorus) liquid fertilisers comprising ammonium polyphosphate (10/34/0 solution).

The advantages of ammonium polyphosphate are:

-          spectacular performance in winter or spring crops

-          easy and precise application to the root system

-          preservation of final yield in difficult conditions.

(*)  The roles of phosphorus and nitrogen:
Phosphate is a basic component of DNA, the material which carries genetic information in cell chromosomes. It is also a component of the cell walls through which nutrient exchange takes place. In addition, phosphorus plays a role in the capture and transportation (by phosphate molecules) of solar energy and hydrogen in water during photosynthesis.
It also activates cell multiplication and root growth, and promotes early development of crops.

Nitrogen plays an essential role in the creation of living matter from mineral matter. In cell protoplasm it is combined with other basic elements to form nitrogenous organic substances (proteins).

It is one of the components of chlorophyll, which controls the fundamental process of photosynthesis.
In nature, nitrogen is abundantly present in two states:

- in its free state it makes up 4/5 of air

- in a combined state, in mineral (ammoniac, nitrate) or organic form.
