Description

This position is accountable and responsible for supervising, coordinating, planning, and facilitating work related to environmental, safety, and health. The ESH function accountabilities include compliance control and reporting to regulatory agencies, risk assessment and management, industrial hygiene, substance abuse, incident investigation and reporting, and ESH procedure preparation and control. Programs and permit requirements include Title V air permit, hazardous waste permit, NPDES permit, POTW permit, OSHA VPP and behavioral based safety. ESH also provides day to day support to the plant for safety and health auditing, and for right to operate issues. Additionally, this position is a member of the Site Leadership Team and Prayon Business Team and, as such, is accountable for contribution to managing the overall financial viability of Prayon, Inc.

Designs, develops, implements and oversees the companys safety and health programs and procedures to safeguard site personnel and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with local, state and national regulations. The Safety & Health Specialist will: identify and anticipate concerns and hazards; conduct safety audits of buildings, facilities, tools and equipment; determine the safety training requirements of site personnel; provide all necessary safety training; accident investigations to determine root cause, circumstances and contributing factors; develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrence; and maintains comprehensive knowledge of all relevant government and corporate safety regulations (OSHA). Additional duties include site security and Emergency Response Team oversight

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of:  OSHA regulations, workers compensation, occupational health requirements

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Engineering discipline
  • Additional education/training/work experience in environmental regulations including SARA, Clean Air Act, POTW, RCRA, CERCLA and NPDES.

Minimum Requirements 

  • 10 years progressively responsible experience in Environmental, Safety and Health within a manufacturing facility
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving, Health & Safety process improvement,
    OSHA compliance programs,
    Workers compensation, and
    Health & Safety training.

Preferred

  • 15 years progressive experience in ES&H in a chemical manufacturing facility
  • Senior level management experience
  • Meets minimum requirements within the chemical manufacturing industry
  • Experience with maintaining VPP site certification
  • Emergency Response
  • Health & Safety Administration
  • Multi-state health & safety program administration, including workers compensation
  • Prior supervisory experience. 
  • Previous work experience with environmental compliance that includes SARA, Clean Air Act, POTW, RCRA, CERCLA and NPDES.
