Prayon announces plans to acquire HRA

HRA plant

A strategic move to reinforce its position in food applications in Latin America.

Prayon, a leading player in phosphorus chemistry, and HRA (HRA Uniquímica and HRA Ingredients), a Colombian producer of phosphates, propionates, minerals and other ingredients for the food sector, announce the signature of a binding agreement for a potential acquisition.

Prayon ambitions to reinforce its position in food applications and to expand its footprint in Latin America while HRA contemplates to significatively increase its exports.

The closing of the transaction, expected in 2027, is subject to several conditions precedent and to regulatory notices. This potential transaction will represent a significant step in theexecution growth strategy in high value-added markets. The synergies between Prayon and HRA aim at reinforcing our position in phosphate salts for food applications, significantly enhance our presence in segments like baking, and broaden our portfolio with complementary specialty ingredients such as propionates, minerals and fumaric acid.

Latin America is a high-growth market offering attractive development opportunities. With production units in Medellin and Cartagena, Prayon will be ideally positioned to expand its commercial presence in Colombia, across other Latin American countries, deploying its full range of solutions throughout the region.

“In line with our recent acquisition in the USA, and our ongoing investments in our existing facilities, our plans with HRA will further consolidate our position in the food market, strengthen Prayon’s international presence and contribute to our long-term performance,” comments Geoffrey Close, CEO of Prayon. “HRA is an innovative organization with a “solution-provider” mindset for its customers. We look forward to welcoming the HRA teams and combining our strong application expertise to generate synergies and deliver greater value to our customers around the globe.”
